Every single registered domain name has no less than two Name Server records that show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain name to the servers of a particular website hosting company. That way, you've got both your site and your emails handled by the same provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there is a variety of other records, for instance A and MX. The first one reveals which server handles the website for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server manages the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, whenever you type a domain name in your browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain uses and from there you could be sent to the servers of a different service provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having independent records for the site and the emails means that you can have your site and your emails with two different companies if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, that comes with each and every hosting plan that we provide, will permit you to view, change and create A and MX records for any domain or subdomain within your account. Using the DNS Records section, you are going to be able to view a list of all hosts inside the account in alphabetical order with their corresponding records, so any update is not going to take you more than a few clicks. Creating new records is as simple if, for instance, you would like to use the email services of another service provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default two. You may also set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. Put simply, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it will contact the next one. With our sophisticated tool, you will be able to control the records of your domain addresses and subdomains easily even though you may have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

With the semi-dedicated plans that we provide, you're going to have 100 % control over the records of all domains and subdomains that you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records every one of them has via the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and modifying any record takes only a couple of mouse clicks. If you want to switch your web or e-mail hosting provider, you can edit the necessary record and point your domain to the other service provider for one of the services, while you still carry on using the other one through us. You can also keep the main domain address here, while you modify the A record of only one of its subdomains. In case you are changing the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the default 2 that we have, you can create them with ease and set a different priority for every single one.
